Károly Miksa Reissmann (1856-1917) came from Germany to Hungary in the spring of 1887 and designed the inner decoration of several significant public buildings, such as the Parliament, the Buda Castle, the Curia, and designed the repainting of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Applied Arts. He felt at home in various styles this design is already a search for styles, presenting all the characteristics of various versions. The surfaces are covered with vertical, straight branches,
decorated with coiling flowers, tendrils etc. The decoration is richer at the top and bottom; the irregular, lobed, curved fields are stylised enclosed by decorative, Hungarian ornaments. The extremely stylised floral motifs refer to a thorough knowledge of creative methods in folk art. Reissmann collected his drawings and ideas in several booklets. One half of the design was made pencil, the other in watercolour, in the fine, detailed, precise manner of the designer.
