Round base, with jointed stem ring. The upper part is a narrowing cylinder, with a cap that can be screwed on and a chain by which to hang the flagon. The coconut bowl is decorated with two carved pictures from the Old Testament: the story of David and Goliath, and Absalom and Abner. The pictures show stylistic features of the woodcuts for Bible illustration made around 1550 however, their exact originals are unknown. There is a piece of similar shape and with similar decoration in the Kunstgewerbemuseum of Cologne, attributed to a Cologne master by Rolf Fritz. Marked with an unidentified maker's sign.
