The broad, elongated, prismatic chest with four drawers rests on feet. Plain sides the top is bordered by a thin lath of gilt bull's-eye ornaments. The drawers are flanked by motifs typical of the Empire style: splayed pilasters with an acanthus bottom and a female herm top. This motif, used for division as well as decoration, was particularly popular among Hungarian furniture makers. The top drawer is painted with twined dragon figures enclosed by symmetrical acanthus tendrils, on a black base. The lath separating the drawers, is painted with a line of leaves the front of the pilasters also shows painted ornaments. At the beginning of the 19th century, this type of furniture was used for storing clothes.
