The main unit of the chatelaine chain is a flowery, bracelet-like cartouche, showing a female figure walking, holding a fan in her hand. A child holds a parasol above her head. The cast hook, with which the chain can be connected to the waistline of the skirt, is soldered to the back of the cartouche. A brace joins the plate, from which three short chains hang, holding a small plate of cartouche shape. The plate is decorated with a bunch of flowers in the middle. Another three chains join the middle plate, holding a third plate of irregular shape, with flowers in the middle. The chain has a hook at the bottom and two hooks at the two sides of the brace. One of the side chains holds a crystal ball of Bohemian ruby, the other has an amber cap. A necessaire joins the middle of the chain and has a flat case of irregular shape. One side of the necessaire is decorated with a bird sitting on a flowery bough. At the bottom of the case we can see a Chineman standing in a field framed by volutes, with a tree and a bird behind. Another man walks away with a basket and a long stick, again with a tree and a bird behind him. The decoration exibits chinoiserie, that is, oriental characteristics. The necessaire hides a pair of scissors, a tiny spoon, an ivory plate, an earpick, a pricker, a pencil extension and a razor.
