Each chair stands on two jointed, fluted, baluster- shaped legs at the front, while the back legs are curved. The seat is trapezoid the back is bent backwards and curved on the sides. It is supported by the back legs. Close analogies can be found in the small dining room of Petworth House, West Sussex. These were manufactured in 1801, precisely for this building, by John Kerr, a London carpenter.
