The green maroquin leather binding is gilt. The front plate has a gilt, double-line frame, enclosing the scrolling, gilt motifs with leaved endings - shaped with curve stamps - of the surface. The pattern was modelled on the Neo-Renaissance Grolier-style binding of B.David (see Octave Uzanne: La reliure moderne artistique et fantaisiste, Paris, 1887, PI.VI., p.25). The spine is divided into six compartments by five bands, each revealing a tulip in a frame of double-lines and arabesques. The second field bears the gilt title: SZANAT T. / PETFŐINÉ. The date 1891 appears below. The back plate has a round ornament of arabesques and tulips, placed in a gilt line frame. The leather-jointed, French-style endpaper is polychrome, marbled, in a gilt leather frame. The edges of the pages are also gilt, the headband is sewn of red, green and yellow silk green silk page mark. The cover plate depicts the wife of Petőfi, made after the drawing of Ignácz Roskovics (1854-1915), marked: Roskovics. The illustrations of the text were made by Ottó Baditz (1849-1936), Antal Neogrády (1861-1942), Gyula Stetka (1855-1925) and Béla Spányi (1852-1914).
