In the roller-embossed border are medallions bearing the names of Vergilius, Ovidius, and Cicero, alternating with escutcheons flanked by dolphins and lizards, with joining tails. The escutcheons are those of Saxony, the Marshall of the empire, Thuringia and Meissen. The middle is decorated with two ribbons with the portraits of Lucretia, Occasio, and an allegorical female figure, framed by scattered rosettes and leaves. There are two sirens above Lucretia, holding a sign. The triple- banded back was once decorated with foliage. The top of the back is made of blue and white cotton yarn. The date 1536 is written in ink on the front plate.
