The front and back plates are decorated in a similar way, with brown, black and red leather applications: a flower stem with three blossoms, placed in a frame that is richly jointed by curves. Only the largest, stylised flower blossom differs on the back. The flat spine of the book is divided into six compartments it is decorated with gold tooling and simple, geometrical leather applications. The title is in the second compartment. The inner rim and the moiré silk endpaper are framed with gilt ornaments. The headband is sewn of red and white silk the edges are gold-tooled and painted in polychrome colours, with variations of the flower motifs on the cover plate. According to Elemér Varju, this bookbinding is a successful imitation of an old French pattern chosen by Bishop Dankó.
