The cover and back boards have an identical decoration: a golden and brown frame, with a repetitive pattern of curved lines with scrolls on both ends. The four false bands of the spine and the ends are emphasized by brown-gold-brown lines. The painted surface of the front board was placed later, as an inlay, into the bookplate, apparently to repair a serious damage. The inside of the plates has a blind tooled border with stylized flower stems. There is an impressed marking on the inside of the front board, at the bottom, on the leather and also on the endpaper, almost beside each other: FRANZ HIESS &SÖHNE WIEN. The endpaper is decorated with flowers of light blue petals and green leaves the headband is woven in green and gray.
