Backgammon board

The simple elegance of the board is created by the light wooden inlays on a black base and the sunken panel division of the border. When opened, the same panelled border appears on the inside, although the panels are not made of wood but of ivory sheets, decorated with china-ink painted flower motifs. The middle stripe, dividing the two game-boards, is made of the same material. The triangular fields of the board are inlaid with alternating apple-wood and decorated ivory panels. The inner sides of the border have drilled holes for sticks to record the score. The simple iron lock was once gilt.
