The chair was modelled after the ancient Roman collapsible sella curulis or the Renaissance Savonarola chair. It stands on a foot which is cut in a wave. The foot itself is constructed of six X- shaped, curved, parallelly place laths, which also support the arm rests. The back support is semi-circular it is connected with the seat by a pierced plate dividing into two branches. The seat is formed of narrow laths. The whole surface is decorated with flat carving and scattered star inlay work. The middle of the back support shows a trellis with balusters (Mashrabiyya work). There is an Arabic inscription at the top of the back: "Hail to thee, Mylord, I am at your disposal!". The chair was made for export, with oriental decoration but following western forms.
