The straight foot supports a slightly bulging, flat body, decorated with a low relief, romantic scene shaded with colours. At the foot there are waves of water. A shepherdess rests on the shore, over the split roots of the leafy tree, with geese grazing beside her. Behind, the setting sun appears over the distant hills. Its light turns the water, the bush around it and the sedge gold. The soft, rounded surfaces are highlighted and rise in bolder green from the purple-blue background that represents the coming twilight.
