The vase was modelled on far-eastern, Chinese pieces, though it has unmistakeable European characteristics. The round plinth, supported by the four relief elephant heads, holds a straight, cylindrical body. The relief, lively coloured illustration runs around the whole vase: two rocks standing in the sea, covered with a little grass, surmounted by the symbols of immortality: six cane birds in high relief, starting to fly. The illustration is strongly stylized, creating a happy atmosphere with the use of turquoise, lilac, green and terracotta against the white base. The plinth and the top rim of the vase shows the geometrical lei-wen (lightning) motif, as a frame of the central illustration.
