The outside of the cover of the oval box is decorated with St. Dominic in a rosary frame, with a halo, holding a cross. The frame is flanked by the figures of Christ and the Virgin Mary. The inside shows the Virgin Mary with the infant Christ on her lap, sitting on a throne of clouds. The child stretches out a rosary to St. Dominic, who stands in front of him. On the left side of the scene is a lamb, holding a burning torch in its mouth. The sides of the box are decorated with scenes from the miracles of St. Dominic: he raises a child from the dead, cures the epileptic and raises a man from the dead. Lastly, St. Dominic is received into Heaven by St. Peter and St. Paul. The scene on the bottom of the box is faded it may show St. Dominic at the stake (?).
