Bound in brown leather, the decoration of the front and back plates is identical: palmette line tooled in blind in a gilt line frame. The surface is enclosed by lines tooled in blind the a la cathedral decoration is symmetrical to the central axis. The middle ogee compartment is surrounded by similar, though smaller compartments, with a rosette in a square below each. A close analogy of this bookbinding is published in H. Helwig: Handbuch der Einbandkunde, Vol. I, Hamburg 1953, p. 192, pict.120. The plain middle field shows the LM initials, hand gift. The spine is divided into six compartments by gilt stripes of lozenges and tiny motifs. The second bears the title inscription: Paroissien, the others are enriched with arabesque and scrolls. The leather frame of the French-style, leather-jointed endpaper frame is gilt, the surface is made of green, red, yellow and blue-veined marbled paper. The tool is gilt, the headband is new, sewn of green and gray silk thread. There is a merchant note stacked to the inside, with Librairie de L.F. Legendre, Rue des deux Ponts No26, lie St Louis, Abt. de lecture Salon littérre. The inner side of the endpaper also has an ex libris Pető Andorné stuck in, marked with F.K. The cover plate shows the copper engraving of Mary-Magdalene: La Magdeleine au pied de la croix. This, and the other five engravings illustrating the text, are unmarked.
