The two upturned U-shaped bed panels are of identical size both are bent of cylindrical section solid wood. There is a smaller upturned U-shaped panel in their centre, decorated with shell, leaf, foliage and griffin head intarsia imitation. The space between the outer and inner frame is filled with S-shaped, bentwood elements. The sides are constructed of bent tendril-elements between two horizontal rods. The bed is not marked, nevertheless the delicacy of the tapering endings of the bent parts remind us of the products introduced in the 1888 Gebrüder Thonet catalogue. Similar examples can be found under the No.l, No.4 and No.6 headings in the catalogues of the Kohn factory and the Ungvarer Möbelfabricks-Actien- Gesellschaft, at the turn of the century (see Verlag Dry, München, 1983).
