Round foot with cylindrical body containing the mechanism, and a group of small statues representing a Calvary scene on the top: a crucifix and the cast standing figures of the Virgin and St. John. The orb on the top of the cross — with a scale on the horizontal ring — turns on a horizontal axis and thus, with the help of the fixed hand in front of it, shows the passing of time. On the cover plate of the mechanism a monogram I. F. of the master, marking the name of Johann Fronmiller of Augsburg, active in the second half of the l6th century (Baillie 1951 p. 116). The description of the inventory of the Esterhazy treasury for 1725 might refer to this work: "Egy ezüstt aranyos Crucifixus, melly alatt Boldoghsagos Szuz es Szt. Janos statuai vannak, folotte pedigh egy kiss gombolü oracska" — "a silver-gilt Crucifix, with the statues of the Virgin and St. John below, and a small round clock above." / Inventarium Thesauri Fraknensis Anno 1725.
